It is a choice Newsom and Dem’s are making to cut 8% from UCs and CSUs: they could instead increase funding by changing tax rates so that the 1% does not see its wealth increase so very, very much more than the 99%.
Californians must decide what is fair, and what our priorities are. As it stands, both Democrat and Republican leaders are intent on accelerating the decline of the middle class: Trump attacks Medicaid, Newsom attacks education. These authors (and EdSource generally) want us to accept cuts to education as inevitable, if perhaps regrettable. Why do they not include sources which propose alternatives?
